TERRY R. CASSREINO |
Chief Consultant
Terry R. Cassreino is no stranger to the Mississippi scene. He was a valued and respected newsman for 22 years.
At various times in his news career, he’s been a beat reporter, an editor and a columnist – all of which uniquely prepared him to help launch the Better Mississippi brand as chief consultant and spokesperson.
“I’ve been in private consulting business for a couple of years now, and when the opportunity came along to provide my services to Better Mississippi Group LLC, I recognized this as an opportunity to fill a void that existed in providing important information to the people of the state,” Cassreino said.
“It’s been a worthwhile challenge to help organizations, elected officials and citizens get their messages out to the public while at the same time doing legitimate reporting on issues to help enhance Better Mississippi’s usefulness,” Cassreino said. “I feel really good about the work I’ve been able to do as the chief consultant and main spokesperson for the group.”
A native of New Orleans, Cassreino, 50, received his degree in journalism from the University of Mississippi in 1985.
For 13 years, Cassreino watched, investigated and reported on the inner workings of the state Capitol as press corps representative for The Sun-Herald, garnering several press awards along the way. From the Capitol, he moved into news management at The Meridian Star and the Hattiesburg American.
At The Meridian Star, he led a team of reporters, photographers and editors to plan and produce award-winning coverage of the Lockheed Martin workplace shooting in 2003. While with the Hattiesburg American, Cassreino worked with a team of newsroom editors that planned and edited award-winning coverage of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
After a productive stint as communications director for the Mississippi State Democratic Party, Cassreino went home to New Orleans to help bring attention to the groundbreaking of new public housing efforts underway in the Crescent City post-Katrina as communications director for the Housing Authority of New Orleans.
Cassreino returned to media consulting with the company he created in 2009 – Cassreino Consulting LLC. He has been working with Better Mississippi Group LLC on behalf of its many clients since the company began in March 2010.
Cassreino and his wife, Pam, are the parents of two children. You can contact Cassreino by e-mail at terry@cassreino.net.
